Assistant Airport Public Safety and Security Manager

Position Type: Full-time, Salaried

Compensation Range: $58,256 - $67,682

Job Summary: Assists the department manager in the day-to-day safety and security of Milwaukee County's airports. Aids in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for the safety and security of aircraft, passengers, airport patrons, employees and facilities. Provides continuity of operations in the absence of the department manager.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops and supervises the audit and inspection program. Coordinates with federal, state, and local regulatory and law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance and maintain security. Update and maintain the airport's TSA-Approved Security Program (ASP).

  • Develops procedures to ensure each function complies with appropriate regulatory requirements and ensures personnel are trained in the ASP. Develop and implement policies and procedures

  • Develops procedures for airport construction, VIP visits, or other special events to ensure that all safety and security protocols are addressed and maintained. Develop Changed Condition amendments to ASP regarding such events.

  • Responds to airport emergencies of various types that would impact the safety/security of the airport

  • Assist the Manager with monitoring, inspecting contracts of access control systems, unarmed security guards, Designated Aviation Channeled, identity management and CCTV systems 

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in aviation management or security or a closely related field. One (1) year of airport security experience and one (1) year of supervisory experience.  A valid driver’s license is also required.

Federal Airport Security regulations require that applicants undergo a criminal history records check to maintain security clearance for unescorted access to secured areas of the airport.
