Food Service Operator Seasonal

Position Type: Full-time Seasonal, Hourly

Compensation Range: $15.46 - $17.36/hr

Job Summary:

Under general direction, to oversee and supervise park workers and golf starters; to assist the Park Unit Coordinator with designing and developing quality menu planning; to prepare food and dispense beverages; to oversee the mobile food and beverage cart operations; to maintain a clean and pleasant food service atmosphere which meets or exceeds State of Wisconsin and local municipality health codes/standards; to prepare and maintain operational and employee records; to handle customer problems and complaints; to maintain safe and proper operation of all food service equipment; to assist in special events, tournaments, catering, contracts and unique promotions; to travel to multiple food service operations throughout Milwaukee County; to act as Golf Starter when needed; and to perform such other duties as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:  Two (2) years of full-time work experience in food preparation and/or food and beverage service which includes point of sale (cash register) experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a leadership role is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of food preparation and serving; knowledge of sanitary procedures and methods involved in food service work; skill in the use of food service utensils, kitchen equipment and cash registers; supervisory skills; oral and written communications skills; ability to train and supervise park workers in routine food service and preparation; ability to perform basic mathematical computation; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others.

Education: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent required. An Associate Degree in Food Service Management is preferred. NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Part-time work will be prorated.

License/Certification Requirements: Possession of a Food Service Sanitation License is required within 3 months of appointment. Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license required at time of application and maintained during incumbency.

 

 Special Instructions: This Original Examination is open to qualified internal and external candidates of the State of Wisconsin.  The selection process will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral, or performance tests, or other assessment methods.
