Custodial Supervisor

Position Type: Full-time, Hourly

Department: Zoo

Compensation Range: $20.68 – $24.00 ($43,019.45 - $49,938.87)
Closing Date: January 15, 2018 @ 5:59pm CST

Job Summary

This position is responsible for all custodial services at the Zoo, to schedule, train, purchase supplies, assign and supervise the work of all employees assigned to the custodial department.

 

 

Job Resposibilities

  • Day-to-Day Supervision - Supervise and manage tasks associated with day-to-day operation of custodial division including: scheduling, training, interviewing, hiring, and provide performance feedback and input into potential corrective action.

  • Prioritize Jobs - Responsible for the set-up and logistical aspects of special events, including liaison with event organizers, and catering staff for private and corporate picnics and parties.

  • Personnel Management - Responsible for training of employees, in all aspects of housekeeping including the use of equipment, chemicals, and the safe handling of blood borne pathogens.

  • Time Keeping and Scheduling - Responsible for daily work assignments, bi-weekly schedules, the recording and tracking of employee time in the Dayforce timekeeping system.

  • Record Keeping - Maintain accurate records and inventory of products and supplies.  Maintain Data Safety Sheets for all chemicals that are used by the division in collaboration with Risk Management.

  • Weekend Supervisor - Oversee and run personnel and activities within the Grounds/Maintenance/Custodial Divisions on a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.

  • Miscellaneous - Perform other tasks as assigned including attending meetings, training sessions, and working as needed to perform tasks and assignments of front line staff.

  • Equipment, Tools, and Materials – Operate trucks, cars, carts, scrubbers, extractors, buffers, vacuums, and lifts.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Experience, Education, and License/Certification

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • At least five (5) years of custodial work experience required

  • At least three (3) years of custodial supervisory/management work experience required

  • Valid Wisconsin Class D Driver’s License required

  • Floor scrubbing and waxing experience preferred

  • Internal and external Customer Service experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.; ability to push and pull 150 lbs.
