Airport Maintenance Worker Assistant (Custodian)

NOW HIRING FOR 3RD SHIFT INCLUDING WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS
Shift is: 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. with an unpaid lunch from 3:00 a.m. - 3:30 a.m.
General Mitchell International Airport is staffed 24/7/365 days a year. The custodian schedule consists of one set off day per week and every other weekend off. Custodians are required to work holidays unless the holiday falls on the assigned day off. All staff may occasionally be subjected to mandatory overtime.
Under general supervision work on assigned shift performing all needed cleaning tasks. The purpose of this position is to maintain standards of cleanliness and sanitation at General Mitchell International Airport (GMIA).
To scrub and wash walls; to clean toilets and rest rooms.
To operate and clean equipment such as floor scrubbers, burnishes, carpet shampooers, compactors, small power equipment, and hand tools.
To monitor and report damage to equipment or the facility.
To perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency is required.
Ability to lift/carry up to 40lbs. and push/pull up to 60lbs. on a daily basis.
Must be able to obtain an airport security credential at General Mitchell International Airport.
Able to work advertised shift: 3rd Shift including weekends/holidays and occasional mandatory overtime.
A valid Wisconsin Driver’s License preferred.
Experience in housekeeping preferred.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures; knowledge of the use and effects of materials such as soaps, powders, polishes, and waxes; ability to maintain housekeeping equipment and cleaning devices including heavy duty floor scrubbers, buffers, strippers, and carpet extractors; knowledge of customer service and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others.
|Special Instructions: This Original Examination is open to qualified internal and external candidates of the State of Wisconsin. In accordance with Rule III Section 12 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources to rank applicants on the eligible list for this position. |
