Outpatient Admitting Clerk - Bilingual Spanish Preferred

Job Summary: The Milwaukee County Behavioral Health is creating a partnership with Sixteenth St. Community Health Center and the Outreach Community Health Center to bring increased behavioral health services into the city. Under general direction, the Outpatient Admitting Clerk provides administrative support to Access Clinic and other crisis programs. The role includes general administrative services for staff, entering data in the electronic medical record, mailing out program correspondences, tracking program metrics using Microsoft Word and Excel, ordering supplies. Job Duties:General Administrative. Register new clients in the medical record. Update demographic information for clients in the medical record. Complete General PPS. Mail out correspondences to clients. Distribute mail to staff, ordering supplies.Support to Crisis Coordinators. Develop and maintain record keeping systems to assist with monitoring program productivity and standards related to program policies and procedures, managing calendars. Miscellaneous. Provide support to staff as needed regarding special projects and coverage in other areas as needed.Additional Support. Perform reception duties such as answering phones daily.Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Current resident of the state of WisconsinPossess a HS Diploma or GED equivalentHave at least one (1) year of recent paid work experience in a Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, Scheduler, or Admitting Clerk role. Having this experience in a health care environment is highly preferred.Able to read, write, and speak both English and Spanish fluently is highly desirable. This skill we be tested prior to offer of employment.Experience answering/using a multi-line phone system is requiredAt least basic experience of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word and ExcelMust be able to lift/carry up to 25lbs and push/pull up to 250lbs dailyMust be able to pass a Federal Background CheckExperience working in an Electronic Medical Records system such as Avatar desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of patient rights and confidentiality (HIPPA); knowledge of medical terms and abbreviations including the metric system; knowledge of office practices, principles, methods and procedures; knowledge of spelling, grammar and punctuation; knowledge and proficiency in the use of a personal computer; written and oral communication skills; organizational skills; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to maintain records, files and store items numerically, alphabetically, or by classification; ability to perform data entry into a computer system; ability to perform basic math computations; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others; ability to maintain sensitive or confidential information.
