Registered Nurse (Part-time) - Mental Health - All Units! SIGN ON BONUS $3,750!

Department:  Behavioral Health Division (Watertown Plank Location)

Compensation Range:  $25.54 - $38.21 per hour

Job Summary:  Under general direction to assess the patient’s physiological and psychosocial needs and develop nursing diagnoses. Our greatest needs are on 2nd and 3rd shifts. Positions will require a rotation of weekends and holidays. Nursing staff must be available to work alternate shifts as needed to ensure appropriate coverage for patient care and safety. Currently hiring for the following units: Acute Care, Emergency/ Crisis/Observation, and Child/Adolescent.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and/or adjust plan of care and evaluate outcomes with prescribed nursing practices.

  • Employ care medication and treatment orders prescribed for clients by physicians, nurses, and other disciplines.

  • Respond to unpredictable patient situations.

  • Evaluate document and report pertinent client observations concerns and reactions to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians charge nurse nursing supervisor).

  • Serve as a resource and mentor to other nursing and support staff.

  • Assist with orientation and on the job training of nursing personnel.

  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement policies and procedures of the facility and unit.

  • Assign nursing care to other staff members in accordance with the clients’ needs personal capabilities and qualifications.

  • Establish and maintain communications with physicians, resource people, and other health care disciplines.

  • Participate in unit and department professional activities such as quality assurance research and educational endeavors.

  • Facilitate verbal and written communication with clients’ families and/or health care members.

  • Maintain appropriate clinical records.

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Sign on bonus paid during the first year of employment. First half paid after successful completion of six-month probationary period from date of hire. Second half paid out at one-year anniversary. Current Milwaukee County Employees are not eligible for new hire sign on bonus. 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin or are able to obtain residency within six months (6 mos) of appointment

  • Licensed in the state of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse (RN)

    • RN license needs to be active and in good standing without past or pending actions from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing

    • Specialized preparation for certain services desirable

  • At least intermediate experience with personal computers and related software such as Microsoft Word/Excel/Office 365

    vailable to work any assigned shift including weekends and holidays as required

  • Must be willing and able to submit to our required pre-employment health and drug testing within 72 hours of notification

  • Able to lift/carry up to 25lbs daily and push/pull up to 250lbs occasionally

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Knowledge of the current theory methods techniques and practices of nursing; knowledge of legal and ethical standards of nursing practice; supervisory skills; problem solving skills; English oral and written communication skills; ability to work in stressful situations; ability to make safe and competent judgments; ability to walk to assigned areas of the facility; ability to stand squat flex legs bend at the waist and walk-up stairs; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with clients’ personnel and professionals.
