Financial Manager

Position Type: Full - Time, Salary

Department: District Attorney's Office

Compensation Range: $76,888.29 - $91,650.15
Closing Date: January 23, 2019 @ 5:59PM CST, Unless extended

Duties: To prepare, manage, and monitor the district attorney’s state and county budgets; to administer the district attorney’s federal and state grant programs and ensure compliance with grant requirements; to administer all district attorney contracts and purchasing functions; to administer the district attorney’s accounting and financial programs, including accounting journal vouchers, fund transfers, fiscal forecasts and reports, audits, and oversight of all state and county accounting, auditing, and payroll functions; and to supervise the work of two accountants and one fiscal assistant 2. 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency in governmental accounting and finance; knowledge of the criminal justice system; interviewing skills; analytical skills; organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, and to prepare thorough and accurate reports; proficiency in Microsoft Office®, especially Word® and Excel®; ability to plan, assign, and coordinate work on complex tasks, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a management team on complex tasks; and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in finance or accounting, or closely related field.


Experience: Three to five years of work experience in finance, accounting, or closely related field; and one to three years of supervisory or management experience required.


Licenses: Licensure as certified public accountant desirable but not required; valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

Residency: Residency in the State of Wisconsin required at time of hire and maintained during employment.

This Unclassified position "Serves at the will of the District Attorney."
